I am an RVN, Coach and Mentor. With a background in teaching and supporting both vets and nurses within practice.

What I’ve done and where I’ve been

I spent most of my career working in a large referral hospital, North Downs Specialist Referrals, where I held several positions. Beginning my journey as a rotating RVN and then eventually becoming Clinical Services Manager.

Whilst in this position I overhauled the Cardiopulmonary training (CPR) protocol and deliver the relevant training. Alongside this I piloted and introduced a robust induction programme. A large part of my role was being a coach and mentor to new joiners, both vets and nurses.

Throughout my time as Clinical Services Manager I was involved in the Practice Standards Scheme and discovered a passion for quality improvement. An audit that I oversaw was awarded highly commended by RCVS Knowledge for the impact it had on patient welfare. 

During my time at NDSR I also delivered and coordinated CPD, speaking at congresses and writing for the VNJ.

I qualified as a teacher and delivered the Veterinary Nursing diploma in a large college. Being a coach and mentor to those in my tutor group and new team members. 

Over my career I have coached and mentored nurses and veterinarians at all stages of their career and it’s something I care deeply about.

What I do now

Currently I deliver and support newly qualified RVNS within Linnaeus, with a strong focus on quality improvement and auditing. I sit on the Mars patient safety council and have discovered an aspect of the veterinary profession that is truly exciting and largely underutilised.

In October 2022 I became an RCVS PSS Assessor and I’m very much enjoying this new perspective on our industry. Particularly gaining huge fulfilment from meeting practice teams and seeing the wonderful work our profession does.   

RECOVER Instructor

As a RECOVER Instructor I have a passion for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation in Veterinary Medicine and offer training sessions and CPR RECOVER Rescuer Certification Retreats. More about these can be found on my sister site, Back To Life.

Alongside my RCVS and Linneaus role I am working towards Level 7 in Executive Coaching and Mentoring. 

I’m a huge yoga fan, love tea with cake and I’m partial to a spot of pink, particularly if its leopard print.
